Company: This FTSE 250 global organisation with a turnover of £200m+, is a leading international business to business publisher of over 100 magazines, newsletters and journals. They employ over 1,500 people worldwide with more than 650 staff based in the UK and the company is in the process of going through a major merger which will increase their size by over 50%
Requirements: Working closely with the Divisional Finance Manager, the Business Analyst will be responsible for supervising a team of part-qualified accountants in this highly commercial role where you will get heavily involved in understanding and affecting the actual the business (as opposed to simply preparing management accounts).
The specific responsibilities of the Business Analyst include: -
? Monthly business commentary - reporting of business performance information to business group managers and board level
? Monthly, quarterly and annual forecasting
? Daily supervision of a small team of management accountants, which includes review of all accounting tasks performed, six monthly appraisals and setting of team targets
? UK and overseas inter-company reconciliations and review of control account reconciliations
? Financial reporting, including the production of group annual returns and statutory accounts
? Interpret financial/non-financial information and other tasks completed with a view to identify and solving issues
? Ad hoc projects
This is a role that only requires a limited preparation of monthly management accounts as the staff the Business Analyst supervises will be doing this. However, to be considered, you must be able to manage and develop a team (including carrying out year end appraisals) and be able to organise and complete first interviews for recruiting team members
In addition, the Business Analyst will need to prove their ability to write commentaries on any of the businesses units, be able to write reports of sufficient quality so as to require little/no alteration by senior members of the group and be able to present at meetings with senior employees.
To be considered you must be a senior level part-qualified accountant, ideally at the final stages of your studies.
