Project Manager


Position: Project Manager

Reports to: Project Director

Job Role:

To deliver projects on time, safely, within budget and with acceptable quality through effective planning, monitoring and control.

Key Responsibilities:

To take ownership of the project from receipt of enquiry and to deliver it in accordance with the agreed Project Plan.
To be a point contact for all communication with main contractor and store management.
To attend a prestart site meeting with the main contractor and store management and to confirm the scope and outline programme of works.
To personally brief estimating with all necessary details to produce an accurate and comptetitve estimate, via a Brief Extraction Template.
To perform a credit check for any new Client.
To ensure commercial coverage for all works so that only what. is agreed is delivered unless changes are approved.
To book the order value received onto CIMPAC.
To confirm a detailed programme of works with the main contractor and store management.
To maintain a drawing register.
To issue an installation specification to the site supervisor and installer prior to commencement of the works.
To ensure that all subcontract works are conducted by approved suppliers under the instruction of a formal order.
To order and to expedite all necessary material for the required delivery dates using CIMPAC.
To maintain out of office hours contact as necessary with the site supervisor.
To attend site as necessary to brief the site supervisor.
To attend site as necessary to meet with main contractor and store management.
To maintain an auditable electronic contract file in accordance with the requirements of the Business Process.
To monitor financial performance by producing periodic Project Status Reports.
To complete a Project Close Out Report.

Health & Safety Matters:

To publish a site specific Health and Safety Plan in the standard company format.
To brief the site supervisor of his H&S responsibilities.
To check during site visits that staff are complying with H&S requirements and that a daily diary is being maintained.

Must have 3 years Project Mangement experience in a role of genuine responsibility.
This experience must include an element of site installation.
Must have less than 3 career moves on their CV in the last 5 years.
Must live within sensible commuting distance of the office.
Must be proficient in the use of MS Word, MS Excel and email.
Must enjoy the detail and be "hands on".
Must have the gravitas necessary to manage the relationship. with main contractor and store management

General comments:

As likely to come from outside the retail industry as within it.
Likely to have received specific Project Management training e.g. PRINCE2
Salary range 33k to 37k, Car grade 5 or allowance, BUPA, Pension
