WATERSKI CENTRE COORDINATORBritish Disabled Water Ski AssociationHeron LakeWraysbury TW19 6HWWe have a vacancy for a highly self-motivated person with good interpersonal and organisational skills to work with the regional committee to undertake all aspects of running this National Centre. A friendly, outgoing, gregarious disposition is essential to work with the local committee and a wide range of volunteers.Heron Lake Centre is adjacent to J13 of the M25 near Staines and is both the Southern Region centre and the headquarters of the National Association. We have probably the finest facilities for disabled water skiing in the world, and do everything from teaching complete beginners to training world class athletes.Ideally you will have a water skiing or water sports background with boat driving skills, RYA / SBDA (ski boat driver award) training can be provided for suitable candidates. Experience of working with various disabilities would be an advantage although not essential. You will be required to live on-site. Free accommodation is provided as part of the remuneration package and comprises a one-bedroom flat with bathroom, lounge, and fully fitted kitchen. All utility bills except telephone are included. So all you need to pay for is food.Outline• Responsible for the day to day running of the BDWSA national Centre, Wraysbury including the supervision of casual and volunteer staff.• Responsible for the welcoming of all members and guests and the promotion of the water-based, land-based, and social activities of the Centre.• Training will be given to qualify as BDWSA instructor and driver if required.• Maintain a reasonable degree of personal fitness.• Preferably Ski Boat Driver Award holder.• Commit to the objectives of the BDWSA and to the safety standards set by the Association.• Working hours (11 months) 5½ days per weekSummer (April – October) Mon –Fri & Sat am. Hours can vary throughout the summer season Winter (November – February) you will be required to be on-site as a caretaker/warden & undertake some maintenance duties. Skiing during this period is only on Sundays 10-2 and is covered by a duty driver.General Duties include: • Driving the ski boat and coordinating courses and, general activities. • Daily checks on the boat and equipment. • Cleaning and maintenance of equipment and facilities. • Security of all property. • Ensure a high standard of supervision and safety. • Provide practical assistance on, off, and in the water. • Daily running of the Centre. • Ensure that staff / volunteers / members adhere to Health and Safety standards.Administration Duties include: • Promoting and booking courses, functions and invoicing. • Taking bookings for our accommodation block. • Reporting to the Southern Region Committee at meetings. •Attending promotional events such as the London Boat Show.Remuneration package: Salary £1150/mth+ free accommodation, utility bills, & council tax included.
