Junior Web Designer
A junior web designer is required to help develop our exciting brands. The role will see the designer supporting the web development and online marketing teams across a portfolio of products. The role is very much hands-on, initially assisting with requests from throughout the company, with a view to becoming ever more instrumental in the success of our products and providing a creative and strategic angle to our design.
QS is a leader in the higher education and careers sector, running industry leading websites and events throughout the world. This role will focus on a range of products in our portfolio, including www.topmba.com and www.topuniversities.com – the QS World MBA Tour and the QS World Grad School Tour.
Who are you?
You'll be creative, innovative, and full of ideas. You'll show a genuine interest in the web and online tools, and be able to demonstrate your skills in web design. It's important you are familiar with web accessibility guidelines so that all our sites meet the required standards, and also with best-practices for avoiding spamming in email communications. You'll be able design according to varied target audiences.
Responsibilities include:
-Web application design – working on the build, feel and usability of applications and features within our websites
-Email/direct marketing – designing templates and individual promotional emailers for our events, products and websites
-Web design – working across our portfolio of products to identify, convey and show synergy in terms of look and feel
-Online marketing – involvement in our ever-increasing Web 2.0 presence – helping develop internal and external applications and products
-Branding – maintaining branding guidelines through all design
-Accessibility – ensuring all design meets required web accessibility standards
Skill/attributes required
* Creative and innovative, with excellent design skills
* Fluency in HTML and CSS
* Good knowledge of Javascript and Flash desirable
* Experience in PHP and any other programming languages also desirable
* Effective time management, well organised and methodical
