We are looking for a junior web developer to join our small dynamic development team of 5. The role will initially involve assisting with ongoing project maintenance and support, with a view to developing and learning skills to become a central part of the development team.
You will handle some of our projects focussing on product support, web development and database management, primarily working in PHP and MySQL.
QS is a leader in the higher education and careers sector, running industry leading websites and events around the world. This role will focus on a range of products in our portfolio, mainly related to www.topmba.com and www.topuniversities.com , amongst others.
Who are you?
You'll have a genuine interest in web development, be fast learning and keen to pursue your career in a development environment. You'll be able to think on your feet, and be personable with excellent interpersonal skills – someone who has the ability to handle sometimes, demanding customers. You will have one year's experience in development/programming.
Responsibilities include:
-Assist in the delivery of solutions to web-related problems
-Act as the first point of contact for internal customers and dealing with their queries
-Become increasingly involved in the development of our products
-Work on compiling new templates and user-interfaces for emailers and other products for other people in the company to use
-Network and server management
Skill/attributes required:
* Experience in PHP programming / MySQL / web scripting languages
* Web design experience
* Willing to learn new programming languages
* Effective time management
* Excellent customer service skills
* Fast learner
* Excellent English – written and spoken
* Legal status to work in the UK
Desirable skills:
* Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
* Fluent in English, French desirable
* Experience MS IIS and Apache
