Background
PLUS Markets plc ("PLUS") is a stock exchange (in FSA terms a "Recognised Investment Exchange") supporting both primary and secondary markets, mostly in equities. PLUS recently upgraded its trading and surveillance technology to support MiFID and went live successfully with this new technology during November 2007.
PLUS is now bedding down this technology and planning the next phase of the upgrade of its markets and requires professional testing expertise to assist with this upgrade. PLUS is seeking two professional testers that satisfy the requirements specified in this document to immediately join the upgrade team.
General responsibilities
The successful candidates will be required to:
* behave in a professional and courteous manner at all times;
* to demonstrate a high degree of expertise and experience;
* adhere to all internal rules and external regulations governing the operation of PLUS Markets (training will be given);
* when appropriate, be self-motivated and self-reliant and able to work effectively towards agreed goals with the minimum of management supervision; and
* when appropriate, work effectively with other members of PLUS staff to ensure that PLUS meets its objectives.
Specific role & responsibilities
The successful candidate will also be expected to take responsibility for assisting the Test Manager in ensuring that changes to PLUS software are verified in line with the test strategy. The main functions of this role are:
* To analyse business requirements, technical specifications and product guides;
* To define and produce test plans for verifying system changes;
* To produce and maintain test documentation, including but not limited to:
test plans,
test specification designs,
test procedure design,
test case designs,
defect reports, and
test progress reports; and
The role will essentially be providing software testing activities in support of the scheduled project delivery as follows:
* system testing;
* acceptance testing;
* 2nd and 3rd-line support during go-live phases; and
* training and familiarisation of and hand-over to more junior, permanent members of staff.
Skills & experience required
The ideal candidate will have:
* ISEB or equivalent testing certification;
* a least three years experience of software testing in a Financial services back ground gained in:
finance house(s),
professional service provider(s), and or
finance software vendor(s);
* electronic trading system exposure, specifically,
front office trading systems, and or
market surveillance software;
* a working knowledge of financial products and instruments, and specifically equities; and
* the ability to liaise effectively with technical specialists, business users, and subject matter experts.
In additional to the ‘core' requirements, preference will be given to candidates with the following attributes:
* Test skills:
V-model test methodology,
Mercury / HP product knowledge, and
automation;
* Programming skills:
Unix or Linux shell scripting,
SMARTS/Alice,
any object oriented language, and
SQL.
* Exposure to:
OMX / X-stream,
SMARTS (alerts / reporting), and
Reuters data feed; and
* Qualifications:
math's / science degree or finance qualification,
ISEB practitioner certified, and
ISEB/ISTQB foundation.

* fluent in both oral and written English; and
* competent in a highly regulated environment.
