Job Description – Transport /Delivery Logistics Manager
Title: Transport Manager
Reports to: Managing Director.
Salary :GBP23k- GBP25k
Based at: Room Service Deliveries Ltd 65 Maygrove Road , London , NW6 2EH
Job purpose: To co-ordinate the deliveries function and monitor and control drivers, bikers and dispatch staff. Rota planning and dealing with any staff disciplinary issues. Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
1. Managing the drivers / bikers and despatch team
2. To ensure all daily routines are completed within agreed timescales.
3. To liaise with customer services(call centre supervisor), finance, night shift and restaurants
4. To ensure the companies operational vehicles are maintained in accordance with manufacturers maintenance schedules
5. To ensure all necessary legislation is complied with in relation to the company's operational vehicles and those engaged to drive them. This must include the routine checking of driver licences.
6. To recruit drivers as and when required and in agreement with the Managing Director
7. To ensure the effective training of all staff to include drivers/bikers and the despatch team
8. Manage and motivate staff, recruit staff, train and develop staff, according to company policies and employment laws, and ensure relevant HR procedures are followed (appraisals, discipline, grievance, etc).
Personality: Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality and business profit. A natural forward planner who critically assesses own performance. Mature, credible, and comfortable in dealing with staff and restaurant managers. Reliable, tolerant, and determined. Empathic communicator, able to see things from the other person's point of view. Well presented and businesslike. Sufficiently mobile and flexible to work late hours up to a few days a week. Keen for new experience, responsibility and accountability. Able to get on with others and be a team-player.
Personal Situation: Able to work extended hours on occassion.
Specific Job Skills: Able to communicate and motivate staff and work with a multi-cultural team. Understands the principles of staff management. Appreciates need for consistency within company's deliveries department and the impact on customer service.
Computer skills: Must be adept in use of MS Office 2000 or later, particularly Excel and Word, Internet and email.
Literacy and Numeracy: Able to understand time sheet and basic management reports to monitor staff performance.
Management Ability: Ability to manage staff, recruitment and training the monitoring of staff performance. Some people-management skills, experience and natural ability will be useful.
