Wanted: Building Services Supervisor
This successful & expanding building services company is urgently seeking an experienced, hands-on M&E Supervisor for a small number of long term energy supply contracts in Central London. These contracts involve the supply of heat, steam and electricity to a range of consumers including university colleges and private/social dwellings from a combination of gas fired CHP [60-1,500KW] and boiler plant.
The candidate will have previous hands-on experience in this field and the relevant industry qualifications. A good understanding of pro-active operations and maintenance, CHP systems/boiler plant and distribution systems on a commercial/industrial level is required as is experience of managing service engineers.
Duties & responsibilities:
* Supervise team on site.
* Maintain plant and equipment to agreed specifications and operation. This is a working supervisory position and it is expected that a minimum of 50% of working time will be spent in hands-on maintenance.
* Develop in depth knowledge of the relevant individual contracts.
* Ensure work is allocated to the engineers based upon their skill, training and work-load.
* Manage planned maintenance system.
* Ensure paperwork is up to date and correctly completed.
* Ensure all jobs are closed down promptly.
* Ensure all Engineers are working designated hours and taking regulatory breaks.
* Ensure Engineers completion of sickness and holiday forms and that cover is in place for all holiday requests.
* Maintain and monitor call out rota with associated pool vehicle.
* Sign off timesheets and pass to Contracts Manager for authorisation.
* Support, where necessary, the Contracts Manager in relationships with the Client and attend meetings as directed by the Contracts Manager.
* Arrange for Engineers to work overtime when pre-authorised by the Contracts Manager.
Qualifications, skills & experience:
* Appropriate technical qualifications: e.g City + Guilds mechanical or electrical or equivalent, ACS
* Experience of and familiarity with large scale boiler/heating systems both from a mechanical and electrical perspective.
* Understanding of CHP systems is an advantage.
* Previous experience of supervising staff
* Previous experience acting as an effective line manager who can monitor workload, work rate etc. of subordinates and apply corrective action where necessary.
* Previous experience of organisation and prioritisation
Previous experience of demonstrating leadership and team management skills
* Appropriate HVAC technical qualification would be considered advantageous
* HV authorisation qualification would be considered advantageous
Salary: Up to £32,000 after probationary period + O/t, callout and generous benefits package
